Question about student loans?

I accepted about $12,000 in student loans for the 2011-2012 year. On my award letter the loan is divided into three quarters, fall, winter, and spring. However I am not attending fall quarter. The financial aid office said that is ok, I can accept the loan for the full amount anyway. So will my loan be divided into the 3 quarters, so I get about 4,000 each quarter? Even if I am not attending fall, I will receive the $4,000? I would ask the financial aid office but they NEVER answer their phones and aren't very helpful. I go to a branch of Ohio University if that helps. I also received $5,500 in grants, which should pay for the whole year. Thanks!
