How to stop costumes smelling like coffee after dying them with coffee?

I've recently dyed some costumes using coffee to make them look old and tatty. (For a production of oliver) its worked brilliantly but the costumes now stink! I love the smell of coffee normally but now its really over-powering. I don't want to wash them coz that will wash out the "dirty" look that I've tried to accomplish. I've also tried spraying them with fabreeze but it didn't work. Any suggestions?
