Im fighting with a friend over this?

So, I am homeschooled in south Carolina. I am 14 as of april and should be going into the ninth grade, but I skipped a grade, and am going into the tenth. If I were to attend real school, I would be in the tenth grade, right? My friend says "homeschooling isn't real" and."it doesn't count". Please help?
