How do I get really good skin?

I very rarely get spots but I have lots of blackheads and there's the redness round my nose. So many people i see appear to have flawless skin but i'm not sure if that's just make-up (if so, mine isn't very good and could you suggest better?) Either way I want to get my skin lookin clean and smooth, is there any products can suggest - mainly for blackheads? Clean and clear doesnt seem to work brilliantly on me, thanks
